11/21/2006 Entry: "lifegiver"

Just reading this morning in Luke 4...very interesting chapter...but the verse that always sticks out to me the most is when Jesus says, v18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those that are bruised..."

to me, this verse is LIFE...it reminds us Jesus is the life giver, the restorer, the deliverer! so wherever you may find yourself today...no matter if its in the darkest valley where you are devestated by tragedy or hardships, whether your heart is shattered and been dashed to pieces, or whether feeling completely in bondage to sin...let this verse sink into the depths of your heart and be a well spring of life...

one thing i am being reminded of daily...especially the last week is my desperate need of the LIFE that comes from Jesus...like before my feet hit the ground in the morning i've just been saying, "God I need You today. You are my life, my song, my sanity, my reason. I give my day to You!" ...simple, but so needed...i am constantly reminded of my weaknesses and my short comings, but it is Jesus that is our Deliverance, Our Sunshine, Our Light, Our HOPE, our REASON for even being here at all...

So, know, He is closer than the air you breathe...BREATHE IN AND KNOW HE IS THAT CLOSE!!! Call out to Him today, and no matter what your need...KNOW HE IS LISTENING...

Thanks for that:) I love that verse. I really needed to hear this stuff, I feel pretty much oput of my depth right now. I've just been in the states for a week, and its been very weird adjusting to living in a city and living in a neighborhood where you get woken up to people yelling profanities. I'm realizing how hard it is to love like Jesus did.

Anyhow thanks, I appreciated this post, im just at a point where i'm being tested and drawn out to a place I can't even see,which is scaryyyy right now.

Wow, isn't it amazing how many kids go to church every sunday and go to youth group and have Christian friends and all that... but they don't know that they can have a PERSONAL relationship with God? Like they accept Jesus and then go home to their normal life... with absolutely no impact... It really discourages me

My brother and I recently attended an all-night party at a somewhat-local water park (yeah... I know, its crazy) and there were literally BUSES full of youth groups coming, I think I counted 6 or 7. There were kids from all over Ny and Pa, from Long Island to Lancaster. And they were all "church kids". So anyhow, around 1 o'clock in the morning we all gathered around for some pizza and to listen to the speaker of the night. It was pretty much the basic altar-call thing that I've heard a zillion times before, but what I was surprised at was that out of the 50 some kids in this room, about 20 said they wanted to learn about having a personal relationship with God! Now when I heard this I was like "Oh! Dude, this is sooooo sweet!" (don't ask me why, but I'm always excited when I hear a bunch of kids want to accept Christ). The people that planned this whole thing also had set up a discipleship ministry to help new believers in their faith. But what really struck me was that these kids... they had heard this before, they had been to church, they knew all the stories by heart... but it all meant nothing because they did not understand.

We have the oportunity to call God our friend, He has extended His hand, all we have to do is accept His gift. Nothing we could ever do could pay Him back. He gave everything so that we could be called His. He is our atmosphere, our life, He holds our universe together with His very breath. And He wants US. But we don't understand...

What is this saying about our generation? What can we do to effect it? Those are questions I'm still wondering, but the search for answers seems to continue...

just something to think about :)

I TTLY Agree, Sara. God is everywhere, always helping us... and he helped me especially today. How? Well,I was sitting in my quiet spot outside, praying, when my friend Brian found me. He asked me what I was doing, and when I said, "I'm praying," he asked, "are you a christain?" I nodded and asked him, "are you?" He shrugged and sat down. "I guess," he said. "My brother had me repeat after him when I was ten, so I guess I am." "do you know what being a christain really means?" I asked. "Nope," he said. "do you want to know?" He slowly nodded, and I explained to him about the beginning of the world, Sin, hell, heaven, and Jesus. He couldn't believe it that Jesus had died for him, and started asking questions. He was just curious, but I think that I may have actually made an impact on him.
See, God is alway there, helping you and giving you the right words to say. I have so many shortcomings, yet Jesus used me to tell someone about him!! He has blessed my day, may he bless yours!
