05/22/2007 Entry: "the knowledge of the holy"
everyday i become more aware of how little i truly understand God, and how little i probably ever will. he is so tangible, yet so full of majesty and outside of our intellect or reason. He owes us nothing, yet gave us everything. to try to contain Him or bring Him to manageable terms is impossible...anyway...
i know some of you will wonder how many times that i'll revisit this book since i so randomly share quotes from it...:) but it is one of those books that you can revisit for a lifetime..."The Knowledge of the Holy" by A.W. Tozer...check out this quote...unbelievable...
" Man for all his genius is but an echo of the original Voice, a reflection of uncreated Light. As a sunbeam perishes when cut off from the sun, so man apart from God would pass back into the void of nothingness from which he first leaped at the creative call"

i have never even heard of that book, but now i want to read it. what an amazing quote. dang.
haha. just when you think you are learning more about God, and you are finally "understanding" Him...you realize how infinitely tiny you are in the grand scheme of things, and how huge He really is. i get really frustrated with all of that sometimes because i feel like i'm chasing someone who's running from me, and the more i don't know seems to cancel out what i do know...and i end up feeling further from Him. at the same time, i know it's good that we can't understand everything about Him. then He wouldn't be God. :o)

it makes you think. we're nothing yet God gave us everything when we should be giving Him everything and so many of us get lazy. that was a long sentence, but like why? He does it because He loves us but don't you ever stop to wonder why can't we give it back to God and do even one simple thing for Him like reading our Bible or praying everyday? it's such a simple task but what i can't comprehend is why we can't all just do that everyday and why we fall away... it's just so, i don't even know the right word for it.

I wish I could get ahold of that book. I'm gonna need something to read while I'm in the hospital.

Hm. Interesting. I'm going to the library today, so i'm going to look for that book. Hopefully they will have it... considering it is a small library. well, take cares.
