08/01/2007 Entry: "the speaking voice of God"
this book is amazing "The Pursuit of God" by A.W. Tozer...wow...i have to share another quote! :)
"A man may say (of the Bible) 'these words are addressed to me', and yet in his heart not feel and know they are. He is the victim of a divided psychology. He tries to think of God as mute everywhere else and vocal only in a book. I believe that much of our religious belief is due to a wrong conception of and a wrong feeling for the Scriptures of Truth.
A silent God suddenly began to speak in a book and when the book was finished lapsed back into silence again forever. Now we read the book as the record of what GOd said when He was for a brief time in a speaking mood...The facts are that God is not silent, has never been silent. It is the nature of God to speak."

Booya. Great book Sara. There is so much more to God. That is the beauty of life- trying to listen for God's voice in all of what we do.
When you finish this one, pick up The Knowledge of the Holy by Tozer. Love ya.

um. wow.
that's it. i'm ordering the book.
i'm taking this class right now called the psychology of religion. i'm reading a book called "psychology through the eyes of faith". it's pretty old, but it's got some great stuff in it. you might try and order it...it's an interesting read that covers a wide variety of topics. it's like 3 bucks on amazon.
i'm completely guilty of what you quoted. sometimes i think i'm trying to hard to hear God...and i'm completely missing stuff. hmmm...

ha. another one=] and still thought provoking. I was just thinking about this in church the other day... well, it kinda relates. We can't get mad at God for not talking to us and not telling us what to do when we're the ones not listening. It's like we can't expect to be close to Him without praing or reading our Bibles or fellowship with others you know? it just won't happen. But the pathetic thing is it happens to every one of us. Soemthing so simple as just slipping up can totally lead to being deaf(spiritually speaking... ha). crazy. but yet God still takes us back... good thing He loves us=]
