09/30/2008 Entry: "cs lewis"

I have read C.S. Lewis' writings before, but I have only read a few of his books sporadically. Lately, I can't get enough, and I don't look forward to the day when I have exhausted all of his books! Although, they are so rich and full of insight I could probably read them for a lifetime without growing bored.

He is one of the most brilliant Christian authors of all times, if not the most. I cannot say he is the most brilliant because I have not read every book out there, but in my world, his writings FAR exceed anything else I have come across. I LOVE IT that he doesn't just pull verses out of the Bible, and demand the reader to accept certain ideologies without question. He often approaches Christian teachings with much scrutiny, and asks difficult questions. Then, instead of encouraging the reader to embrace ideas with blind faith, he explains the logical reasoning that supports some seemingly unapproachable topics.

Sure, God is unsearchable, and our wisdom is as foolishness in light of His...still, He gives some people, like C.S. Lewis, the gift to enlighten others of things we can grasp. That in turn increases out faith.

All that to say, check him out if you haven't. Again, one of my favorites so far is "Mere Christianity" and his fiction book "The Great Divorce"! They are both very insighful!!!

melody-yeah, even though he's come and gone, they are still in demand. that's cuz he's a cool cat :)

hey sara...you'll have to check out some of lisa bevere's stuff if you haven't already. she rocks. :) i think you'd maybe like her stuff. i'm enjoyin it.

and yeah i'll be gone this weekend, but after that one of us should call the other. and you should share your knowledge about stuff with me. cuz. i need to know what you have to tell me. ;) hardcore.
