04/28/2009 Entry: "so u think you're a hot shot!!! ???"
Are you a HOT SHOT?
There is this big storm outside. It’s been raining for hours, so I decided to walk out on the porch, and catch a glimpse of this killer “light” show. Just as I stepped outside, lightning shot across the sky, followed by thunder so loud, that it literally felt as if the earth shook....it was so loud, that it gave me that one feeling, everyone’s experienced, that unexpectedly shoots down your body, and makes you jump without a conscious thought...All that to say, It scared me half to death!
Then I thought, “Whoa! God! You’re freakin’ powerful, and you just scared the heck out of me!” Shortly after I walked back inside, the electricity went out....that’s when it hit me..”Ha! how funny! God can take out our electricity with His (lightning)! We are a bunch of big shots aren’t we???” and I just had to laugh, because I thought about how mankind has fashioned our world in such a way to “keep God out!” For instance, we decided that we don’t want “In God we trust” on our money...ha! look where that idea got us! It’s just funny if you think about it...we print out this paper, with our pictures on it, and whoever has the most “wins”! It’s just funny! We think we are the big shots, and in one second, with one flash of His lightning, God could shut down the whole thing!
Just my random thoughts for the night :) check out these verses...they kind of go with what I’m saying about us thinkin’ we’re cool cuz we can build a big building, or make a car, or make an air plane, or crown ourselves “king” of a nation, or even a business! No matter how “HOT shot” we think we are...God is bigger still...I like Him :)
Job 38:16-30 God asks Job,
“Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?
Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?
Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all.
Where [is] the way [where] light dwelleth? and [as for] darkness, where [is] the place thereof,
That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths [to] the house thereof?
Knowest thou [it], because thou wast then born? or [because] the number of thy days [is] great?
Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,
Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?
By what way is the light parted, [which] scattereth the east wind upon the earth?
Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder;
To cause it to rain on the earth, [where] no man [is; on] the wilderness, wherein [there is] no man;
To satisfy the desolate and waste [ground]; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?
Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of dew?
Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?
The waters are hid as [with] a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.”
God knows. He’s not the idiot that “religion” has made Him....He is the God of all things, the seen and the unseen.

oh my goodness! i know rite? i completely agree. i've been thinking about this too, like how we all try to not necessarily keep God in a box(which we do) but put ourselves about Him. that's an absolutely rediculous idea. Like in Isaiah 29:16 it says "You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay!Shall what is formed say to him who formed it,"He did not make me"? Can the pot say of the potter, "He knows nothing"?"
that totally made me think of our arrogance and how often we lose sight of who God is and His power and just everything bout Him. and how we trust everything but Him... well, at least for me. i mean, i trust that when i sit in a chair it won't break, that my alarm clock will wake me up in the morning, that my car will start to take me where i need to go. i trust that my friends won't tell my secrets, that other people driving won't hit me( and i've never even met them before!) but i still can't fully put that kind of trust in God who I;ve known before, who has proven Himself before time and time and time again. It's interesting to think about... convicting and whatnot. but wow. it's pathetic. and your storm made me think about it=] hahaha
but i love thunder storms=]
God is amazing. end of story.

Wow..that hit me right between the eyes..!! Thank you for sharing. I actually just read that passage just a few days ago, and I have been thinking about it and pondering on how POWERFUL that God is. And how "God" He is..He IS in control of everything, He just gives us the freedom to accept or deny it. Love and Prayers!! <3

FOR THE LORD "MOST" HIGH EXCITES TERROR, AWE, & DREAD; "HE" IS THE GREAT "KING" OVER - ALL - THE EARTH!" amen and amen. Psalm 47:1-2
