It's interesting how often people use "religious" lingo for the sake of power, in hopes to enlighten the "less fortunate" souls who are "weak" and lack true spirituality...
I had a man write me the other day with the most outrageous accusations. Seriously, i should just post his email so you all could laugh. He attempted to mask his accusations in humility and "concern" for Sara Acker. Ha! It was ridiculous because everything he accused me of was so far fetched, and border lined some weird obsession with this "Sara" that he created, and attached my face to. Of course, then in the name of "Jesus" he cast his stones. Fortunately, I have a pretty good grasp on who I am :) so I was ok...
but...I tell you what, every day I become more sickened by the modern day Pharisees. Why? Because they are damaging people, and loading them with burdens they cannot carry. They use God to create their own earthly kingdoms, in hopes of being worshipped for their great "words from the Lord" and their devotion to god. Jesus goes off for an entire chapter (Matthew 23) unveiling their true motives. In Matthew 23:13 He says "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in". That's freakin' intense.
Why does it bother me so much? Well, think about it, the average person associates their views of God with church, and unfortunately many times associate Christians with the Pharisees. Then people think that's what Christianity is when it couldn't be further from the truth. Obviously there are many people who use the Word of God, not as a weapon, but like Lucy in Narnia, as a healing ointment to bring people back to life.
The Word was never meant to give anyone a license for a power trip. We are human and need to rid ourselves of the arrogance we picked up somewhere thinking that because we have found salvation that we are somehow the elite of humanity. Yes, we have found the well spring of life, but that doesn't mean we are better than anyone else on this planet. Sin is sin. We have all sinned, and our sin separates us from God. The salvation we received has nothing to do with our goodness or anything we could ever attain on our own. Sure we have received forgiveness at the foot of the cross, still we are flawed, we are human.
All that to say I think it is more important now, than any other time in history, that the true believers get OUT of our churches more and show the world what true Christianity is all about. We need to give the world love with no other motive than to show them Jesus. We can't have some hidden agenda like getting them to come to our churches to pick their pockets so we can build bigger churches. We must reach out with pure, untainted love. People have heard the Christian lingo enough, but we need to SHOW them Jesus. We need to go where they are! Jesus hung out with the lost. He didn't hide away, and create some sub culture where He was "safe" .
I know, it is so easy to become self-absorbed in life and forget our purpose. It's even easy to think we don't "have it together enough" to share Jesus. That's why it's important to remember, it's not about us! It's about the life-chaning power of the gospel. We have the Hope people are searching for, so let us rise to the occasion and just live, be who we were meant to be, where we are. Live out your faith at work, home, school, or wherever it is that life has found you. Allow your actions to speak loud to the world. (Matthew 5:16) We need to step in front of the stones the Pharisees throw, and bring them life.
Don't be afraid to be human to the world. They are not impressed with our starched shirts and our super saint masks. Sure, we are to shine, but we are all on a journey, just like they are. We need to be real, and show them that true Christianity isn't about throwing stones, and beating each other up in "Jesus" name! It's about freedom! Just live, shine, be light. (Acts 13:47)

ok, so we were on our way to Silver City NM today. All of the sudden Marcus and Charlie ask me why the van is filling with smoke...so, yeah long story short, we got stranded...yeah, it was nuts. then after half of us took a taxi to the mechanic and the rest rode in the wrecker we had to walk (pulling all our luggage) 1 1/2 miles, down the streets of El Paso, TX to find a hotel. it was nuts! then we went to the pool for about an hour and then since we were like 10 minutes from Mexico, we grabbed a cab and went n ate dinner over there and now we're back! :) So thought i'd catch you up on the drama...oh, and we missed our show! WE'VE NEVER done that before, ever...
so i decided to start adding pics all the time from the road to a flikr page. so be sure to check it out and feel free to comment on there anytime :) CLICK HERE TO see pics!!!

well it's a beautiful day in the amazing state of Texas. blue skies, birds singing, and gorgeous weather! a beautiful day that could easily get clouded by many things, still the sun shines. the moment priceless.
thoughts for the day-don't get hung up on yesterday or tomorrow. LIVE TODAY! no one is promised another day and so often we live in fear of the future or running from our past! LIVE IN THE MOMENT, enjoy it, and if it's trials and accusations you face, allow those to shape you into a stronger person. you control your destiny. so run, breathe in, and enjoy life.
LIVE. LOVE. ROCK.

TWO THINGS THAT WERE NEVER MEANT TO EXIST:
#1 UNISEX bathrooms...whoever the heck thought of that idea??? I went into a truck stop the other day (and have experienced this many other times) , and had to use their disgusting bathroom...and i'm just like come on! really, how much would it have cost to put in one more little bathroom? Geez...it was like a baby nursery in there! never meant to exist :)
#2 HOTELS WITHOUT ELEVATORS...try carrying your suitcase up a few flights of stairs that you crammed all your clothes in to live with for 3 weeks out on the road! right? sure we could all use a good cardio workout, but come on!!! never meant to exist!!
ok, those are my thoughts from being out on the road for a while now :)
