If I were to ask you, “Do you want to be free?” What would you say? Of course, the Sunday School answer would be a hearty “yes!”, but I want you to think about what I am really asking. To what extreme would you go to see the face of God? How far would you go to be changed? What would you sacrifice to kiss the lips of freedom?
A while back, a girl came up and wanted to talk to me about overcoming her depression. At first she beautifully painted the picture she wanted me to see! As she continued talking, her demeanor slipped into honesty, the performance was over. Her words dripped with fascination, her eyes now lit up as she talked about her self inflicted torment. She was SAYING that she wanted out of depression, but the more she talked, her love affair with darkness became undeniably obvious. Freedom wasn’t something she wanted at all.
It was as if…well, if depression had morphed into some sort of tangible form right before my eyes…I could almost see it whispering in her ear, feeding her counterfeit confessions, lies, and a false sense of security. I tried to pry its ugly hands from her ears, and get her to look me in the eye. I tried to expose her friend (depression), in hopes she would “see”, but she refused to even look up. As I watched her walk away, it was as if she danced to the clanging of her hand crafted chains. I thought, wow! She “hates life”, still I’ve never seen someone so in love with depression.
HOPE
Maybe you feel like the girl I just described. Unfortunately, many of us live our lives in much the same way, but don’t even see it. Freedom is within our reach, still we love our addictions more. We have all been blind. We have all loved darkness rather than light (John 3:19), but the question is, “ what will you do to get your sight back? What will you do to be free?”

well i finally got to go on a mini vacation with my best friend and it has been beautiful...I got to go jet skiing for the first time and it was a BLAST!!! it's also been cool simply sitting by the ocean, listening to the waves, reading, writing..relaxing...still in the midst of "vacation" ...He is...it's so cool...because one thing i am continually realizing is what i have been taught and even said to others...He is omnipresent...if we simple listen/look, we will hear and see him! it's nuts that He is so tangible if we will simply reach out to him..no matter where we are...
I wanted to share something I read that is so cool! check it out!
"In Shaw's play, Saint Joan hears voices from God. The Dauphin is annoyed. 'Oh your voices, your voices' he said, 'why don't your voices come to me? I am king not you.' 'They do come to you, but you do not hear them.YOu have not sat in the field in the evening listening for them. WHen the angelus rings you cross yourself and have done with it; but if you prayed from your heart, and listened to the thrilling of the bells in the air, after they stop ringing you would hear the voices as I do.' Joan gave herself to the chance to hear God's voice. "

this book is amazing "The Pursuit of God" by A.W. Tozer...wow...i have to share another quote! :)
"A man may say (of the Bible) 'these words are addressed to me', and yet in his heart not feel and know they are. He is the victim of a divided psychology. He tries to think of God as mute everywhere else and vocal only in a book. I believe that much of our religious belief is due to a wrong conception of and a wrong feeling for the Scriptures of Truth.
A silent God suddenly began to speak in a book and when the book was finished lapsed back into silence again forever. Now we read the book as the record of what GOd said when He was for a brief time in a speaking mood...The facts are that God is not silent, has never been silent. It is the nature of God to speak."
