limiting god.

yes, He is "the almighty", the omnipresent, omniscient one who transcends time and space. it is he whose single breath could turn this earth to ashes, or set our cosmos whirling into chaos. with one thought he could allow the laws of nature, which he set into order, to crumble. in turn, well...we'd all be dead. it is he who so intricately created and fashioned the human body...the eye, the brain, even the soul...he is so powerful, yet many times has allowed humanity to be the instrument through which he has demonstrated his power...

today i was reading about peter and how he saw God move on any ordinary day. so, in turn i compared that to our average day as a "believer". it made we wonder how often we truly limit the all powerful God from moving in and through our lives...(psalms 78:41) ...doesn't it just make you wonder about how well you know Him??? i mean why don't we experience him like peter or others in the Bible? is it because we don't expect? or is it that we really just don't believe? or maybe that we don't even bother to ask?

now i am the farthest person from believing in the whole "name it claim it" bull crap! i've seen some pretty messed up stuff in my life done in the "name of Jesus" that has done far more damage to people's lives than good...so i'm not in that camp! i'm not talking about demanding God to do stuff for us and give us what we want so we can live a more comfortable life ! what i am talking about is far outside the tangible, beyond the here and now...yes, i'm talking about the supernatural, but not just in the sense of "great miracles" and massive healings, etc... how about even just having our natural world interrupted by God for once? for instance when was the last time God interrupted your schedule and used your voice to share hope with a complete stranger??? or how about just someone at work or school??

think about this! if we say we truly believe Jesus is "the way, the truth, and the life" wouldn't we have a similar passion to that of the disciples who said "i can't help but speak"...now i'm not saying you have to stand on the street corner with a mega phone quoting the book of Revelation at the top of your lungs??? but wouldn't we want to reach out to the hurting? wouldn't that be our heart beat???? I read a verse the other day that slapped me in the face, and was one of the things that stirred up all these thoughts in me...it's in James and it says, "true religion is to care for the widows and the orphans!" THAT'S IT! when was the last time we did that? i mean, it kind of makes us have to step back and question what we REALLY believe at all...in all honesty we have to ask, who we really are...beneath the label "christian"...who are we at the core...do we really believe?

then it makes me wonder how many times would God have moved in our lives if we actually listened to his voice...but how often do we let fear and doubt stop us from even sharing Jesus with other people? Why did the church of Acts see God move? because they expected Him to move, asked Him to move, and looked for opportunities to be used by Him!! they engaged in conversation with the outcast of society and weren't too good for anyone! they were not bound by society's "rules of conversation"...they had to speak! why? because they experienced God, not religion!

i say all that because God's been teaching me this lately...or reminding me of the simple things we so often neglect to see...the opportunities we pass by every single freakin day! once again, he has been calling me more outside the four walls of the church and causing me to realize how many, many hurting people are not stepping foot into our churches! they aren't enticed by our cute little coffee shops and our free orange juice and doughnuts! think about it...when was the last time you saw a homeless person or a prostitute walk through the doors of your church? don't get me wrong, i'm not saying free orange juice, etc is bad, but there comes a point where we have to realize and read what Jesus REALLY said and really called us to...it is not just comfort! it's not just church attendance!

somehow along the way we have lost the understanding of what Christianity is really all about! we exchanged that depth for lifeless mediocrity! we exchanged that "personal relationship" for mere sunday morning services. Yes, we should be in church, learn more about God, and be accountable, but! that's NOT where it ends!

i don't want to walk in the footsteps of those who never saw God move...I don't want to be satisfied with just religion and live life in total ignorance to what God really wanted to do in this generation...lately i just feel God has been convicting me and reminding me to get back to the roots...to hit the streets, to GO TO THOSE who are hurting and reach out more!!! im just desperate for Him to move, and want to expect it more...this is just what i'm learning. expect, and step out on the water, you won't sink.

Here is my PUPPY NEWS! :) i know you all were wondering how little IGGY is doing and my lil DESTINY!

First off, people always talk about how families suffer when people are in bands cuz they are always leaving them at home, and i totally agree...but no one ever talks about how puppies suffer! i was packin and i went out of my room to get my laundry and came back in and found my lil puppy "destiny" in my suitcase...she just wanted to go on the road with me so bad dang, i wish i could take her...ok, im really being stupid here...i know...it's late, what can i say...i either get super intellectual when it gets late or really really stupid... so there you have it! :) so i took a pic cuz she just looked so dang cute! :)

Now, I'm sure you are wondering how Iggy is doing and his mange is almost ALL better...in fact i gave him his last medicine bath before i left:) 1 pic is me and iggy with his lil cone head thingy...it was so he didn't eat the medicine...or something :) anyway, there's all the PUPPY NEWS! :) dang, im tired! goodnight!

well sunday we had a layover in Chicago...so we had to sit in the airport for 2 hours at about 7am...the guys crashed on the floor of the airport...i think that is one of the imperative characteristics you must possess to be in a band...the ability to sleep anywhere, anytime...

anyway, i wasn't in the mood to fall asleep and wake up with my neck hurting...so i watched " i walk the line" and...i have been reading Johnny Cash's autobiography, and man, i'm getting a lot out of it!!! one of the things that's hit me the most is how SIMPLE the musical experience used to be. then as an artist you HAD to be able to do what you recorded 'live" without accompanied vocal tracks, etc. it was all about that "live" REAL experience...now, due to all the technological accomplishments we have (which im not saying are always bad) ANYONE can BE a singer. for instance, the industry can pick a pretty face, put them in the studio, and though they may not be able to sing a lick, they just go back and digitally fix their bad pitch. then they sell their face and body, rather than their music...back in the day, they were passionate about the music itself, IT WAS ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC!!! it was all about the MOMENT! whether it was motown, johnny cash, bob dylan, hendrix, joplin, etc...they went in the studio, plugged in, and everyone would just play/sing at the same time...they HAD to do it right! it was ONE SHOT! No one coming in and fixing it...it was raw emotion

so amongst all of our technological advances i think we have somewhere lost the appreciation for something really special! it's the love for the REAL DEAL, love for the art, the writing, the music and those REAL moments...yes, people still appreciate it, and there are a ton of great writers, singers that are popular...i'm not implying there aren't...it's just...i dunno...it just seems the simplicity has been lost, and that passion for the music, the deep fascination and love of that isn't like it used to be...that's something we have exchanged for convenience here...the simplicity and vulnerability.

this is all really deeply burried inside and just starting to surface, so making my thoughts make sense is kind of difficult right now...it's just something that's been on my mind and im having more of an appreciation for...

ps. i love johnny cash.

well, tonight went really well...there weren't very many people there and it was in a big auditorium which made it seem like there were less people there, but the coolest part about was the liberty and inspiration to really think outside the box and have more fun with it...so right before we did our new song, "we will live", I had these two lil girls who were dancing machines come on stage and be my backup dancers, and it was so cute! they gave me energy, seriously! they were the heart and soul of the evening for me! they were probably all of like 9 or 10 years old, but i fed off their energy, and we had a blase! :) there were a lot of other things that happened but im exhausted and have to be up at 4 in the morning to catch a flight home...so goodnight to all of you...thanks for praying for us! : )

*sara delight*

ps. here's a few pics form tonight and the one with the girls...those are my cool back up dancers :)

ok, so here's the deal...we have had more chaos going on lately than EVER...everyday something weird has happened...first WE GOT KICKED OUT OF DENNY'S for doing nothing...except "being a fire hazard" by adding a chair to end of the booth but we moved RIGHT WHEN THEY ASK to a bigger table (long story) ...that was SO WEIRD...and there was no explanation...the next night we were chillin outside starbucks in Atlanta, GA and SOMEONE DROVE BY IN A CAR AND THREW A CUP FULL OF ICE AND SPRITE AND HIT CHAD IN THE FACE! it spilled all over him! the NEXT DAY we found out SOMEONE RAN INTO THE DRIVER'S DOOR OF OUR VAN the night we stayed at a hotel, and just left! it's all bashed in...then today, we were pulling out of a gas station and heard sirens, so we pulled over! So 3 COP CARS SURROUNDED US and said we stole stuff from the store and had illegally used credit cards at the mall next door (which we hadn't even been to) and questioned us...etc...obviously they let us go because we were innocent! Then that night, we were at our hotel. Marcus and Charlie were sitting out in the hall on their computers. We had two rooms across from each other so i was going over to tell Joby something. When i walked across this drunk dude had something to say about me...and Marcus is pretty much my body guard on the road, so i knew he'd take care of it so i figured i should go in the room, so as to not cause trouble with Mr. Drunkie! SO i hollered at Joby and Chad to get out there cuz I thought a fight was about to break out cuz this guy was OUT OF CONTROL! Meantime Marcus had a few choice words with him in the good ole fashioned Christian way of course :) and then the dude said he was going to "get something" so off he went to get his...we assumed a gun or something...so we went in the room and were all talking bout it when i glanced at the hotel door and it was opening...(we hadn't shut it all the way but it looked shut and we thought we did. i know stupid.) so i flew across the room and slammed it in this guy's face who was now screaming obscenities and trying to get in the room! I had called the front desk and they were NO help...it was nuts...so then i had to tell my band to "chill out" because they all wanted to go out and kick this jerk's rear end...but all i could imagine was an entire band with broken hands, and no one to play the show the next night !! so after much arguing with me, they decided to stay in the room and watch a movie...meanwhile psycho guy got tired and probably passed out somewhere on the way to his room! so IT HAS BEEN SO WEIRD this trip out that i cannot even explain it! seriously! it's like everyday something weird has happened...just wanted to share :) crazy inhabited life
